We will be meeting at the church at 4:00 PM today to leave for Fossil Springs. Please see the previous post for what the boys should bring with them.
Just a reminder on the food. The boys can pass off 2 of the required meals from the cooking merit badge on this trip. They can either do the trail meals (recommended) or the camping meals. Please review the requirements here:

Fossil Springs Backpacking Trip
This Friday we will be going backpacking to a camp site in Fossil Springs. This is the same location that we have been to recently, but this time we will be parking the cars at the Flume Trail head and hiking into our camp group, which is about 5 miles in.
The boys will need to carry everything on their back, so please make sure they have a backpack. Please let us know if they need one, there are a few families that have an extra one that can be loaned out.
They should bring:
Swimming suit
Sunblock
Towel
Sleeping bag (tent OR/or tarp)
Personal Toiletries
Personal First Aid kit
Change of dry clothes and extra socks
Money for lunch on the trip home
Utensils for eating
flashlight
Food
The boys have been working on their cooking merit badge, and one of the requirements is for them to plan and prepare a trail meal. Please make sure that they bring their own food and have followed the guidelines for good nutrition (see the post on the cooking merit badge). If their food needs to be cooked, they should bring their own trail stove. None of the troop gear will be available during the hike (but gear can be checked out ahead of time if needed).
We will be leaving Friday, but we do not yet have a time decided on that we will meet at the church. We are still looking for fathers to come and our departure time will depend on when people can get off work (so we might leave as late as 6:00 PM). I will make another post to this website once we have confirmed our departure time. We should be home late Saturday afternoon.
