Fossil Springs Camping

Fossil Springs Wilderness Area


We will be going to Fossil Springs Wilderness area for a 2 night camp (for maps see the link above).  We are leaving from the church at 5:30 PM and we expect to return after lunch on Saturday.  If you miss your ride going up, please call Scott Foote as he will be going up on Friday to join us.  If your son needs to be back on Saturday, there will be a few people returning Friday.
 
Boy Scouts are encouraged to travel to and from activities in full scout uniform (uniform shirt, uniform pants OR uniform shorts with uniform socks, and uniform belt).  Please arrive at the church in uniform.

We will be camping near our cars.  In addition to the food assignments the boys should bring:
Swimming suit
Sunblock
Towel
Sleeping bag (tent OR tarp)
Camp Chair
Personal Toiletries
Personal First Aid kit
Change of dry clothes and extra socks
Food assignment and personal snacks
Money for lunch on the trip home
Utensils for eating
flashlight

Food Assignments

Dragon Patrol
Brian: Tortillas (12 servings), Pop Tarts (1 serving)
Hayden: Eggs (1 doz.), hot sauce, Pop Tarts (1 serving)
Jack: Sausage (12 servings), Pop Tarts (1 serving)
Zach C.: Shredded Cheese (12 servings)

Llama Patrol
Jonas: Tortillas (6 servings), Eggs (6), sausage (6 servings), PB&J (3 servings), mustard, apples
Ruger: Hot Dogs (6), Buns (6), Relish, Strawberries, Chocolate chips
Zach W.: Ketchup, salsa, pineapple chucks, marshmallows
Seth, Austin ,and  Jaxen: pop tarts, granola bars, ramen noodles, bring own desired breakfast

The troop will provide stoves, cooking utensils, pans, water, plates, and trash bags.

Environmental Science Merit Badge Clinic

Here is the information from the Stake about the Merit Badge clinic this weekend:

Event name: Stake Merit Badge Clinic (Environmental Science)
Event description: This merit badge clinic will cover the environmental science merit badge. The clinic will be held at the Riparian Preserve. The address is: 2757 East Guadalupe Road Gilbert, AZ Please remind your boys to bring the following: *SCOUT UNIFORM - we are in a public setting and need to make sure everyone is dressed appropriately for a scouting event. *BLUE CARD - Filled out and signed by Scoutmaster *Endangered Species Essay (req 6.e.1.) *Notepad, clipboard, and writing utensil (for recording observations) *Camp chair or something to sit on *Hat and sunscreen (we will be outside the entire time)

Westward Ho! Camporee Information

We will be camping this weekend (March 21-22).  

Please be at the church in uniform no later than 4:30 PM

The troop will be cooking dinner together, please check your food assignments on the previous blog post.

Scouts should bring:
Money for Dinner on the way home Saturday (other meals provided by the District)
Filled out Medical Form (see link to the right, parts A and B)
Sleeping bag
Flashlight
Water bottle
Camp Chair (there will be a Wild West show and they need a chair)
Good Hiking shoes
Scout Book
Personal First Aid kit
Day pack to hold make and take crafts(optional)
Warm clothes (staying in north Phoenix)
Sunscreen
Hat
Snacks (optional)

For those boys that can't make it at 4:30, some drivers will be going up later that night.. Also some leaders will be returning early Sat. morning.  If your boy can attend any part of the Camporee please call Bro. Ray to make arrangements.
